STEM Professional Development

Train your staff to lead high-quality hands-on science activities:

NPASS is one of the largest and most comprehensive professional development programs for science in afterschool. This program is led by the Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) and funded by the National Science Foundation’s Informal Science Education program. CalSAC is the only provider of NPASS in California and is one of only 7 states in the country offering this program. Over 500 afterschool sites nationwide are currently offering regular, high quality afterschool science projects through NPASS.

The Bay Area Summer STEM Institute - A Huge Success!

The Bay Area Summer STEM Institute was a huge success! The East Bay and San Francisco Teacher Pathway programs participated in seven weeks of intensive STEM related course work and training, while interning weekly at youth serving programs throughout the Bay Area. East Bay students spent their summer interning with the Lawrence Hall of Science Summer Science Camps as STEM Activity Leaders. San Francisco students worked in pairs to deliver STEM activities to 14 different San Francisco summer programs.

CalSAC provided over 25 hours of STEM training to prepare the Pathways students for their work with children and youth in a classroom setting.

A big thank you to Bechtel, Noyce, and Packard Foundations for their generous funding.
