Overview of 4Quality

“4Quality has definitely helped me change the way I view the significance of afterschool programs. They aren’t just safe places for kids with some games for them to play. They are places where future citizens are developed and where families can get help and support.” – Participant

The 4Quality program effectively improves the quality of afterschool programs for children and youth throughout a community. In Santa Clara County, where the first California 4Quality initiative took place, the project helped develop a unique collaboration of diverse afterschool program providers, who continue to work together on training, technical assistance, public awareness, and networking activities several years after the program's inception.

By facilitating the partnership and collaboration of major program providers, the California School-Age Consortium helps programs pursue universal excellence in afterschool care together. Participating organizations establish a common vision for quality and practices to ensure high-quality afterschool programming in their community. By providing training, technical assistance, networking, and public awareness activities to support sustainability, 4Quality improves the capacity and quality of afterschool care throughout a community.
