Character Building Curriculum

While politicians focus on afterschool programs as a place for students to improve academically, kids want to spend afterschool time practicing what they love. Students often discover a passion for art, sports, or cooking in their afterschool programs and develop lifelong interests—and even professional goals—based on their experiences.

Start Something, an enrichment program from Target Stores and the Tiger Woods Foundation, capitalizes on this role programs play in kids’ lives. Combining hobby development with leadership and character education, the program provides materials to help kids work toward a personal goal that may one day inspire others and help them realize their potential.

“People took the time to help me as a kid, and it made a real impact in my life,” Woods says in a foreword to the materials. “I want to do the same for other kids.
